Wednesday Night, the Garage in downtown Norfolk, the crowd built slowly and the frantic beads of sweat were clear on Mike Thomas's face gearing up for the arrival of Lady Bunny from NYC, in town to benefit TACT. Mike, of OV Pier Parties and formerly of Tact now manages the Garage and arranged for the Lady Bunny to visit Norfolk and give a very special show to benefit TACT (Tidewater Aids Community Task-force). Early in attendance from the TACT camp, Tim Wellborn, Educational Director and Brian O'Dell TACT Director were showing grateful support as Mike Thomas worked the room and managed the night with sublime ease. The crowd came in slow but grew strong and packed the place. Area notables, Dan Matthews, PETA VP accompanied by several friends, Mike and Mark of Mike-n-Mark, accompanied by everybody else (these boys can pack a room with just their Wednesday night list!) We all enthusiastically awaited LB's performance. The buzz began as LB was spotted coming in the back door and discreetly escorted into a dressing room. Actually giant blonde wig was seen entering the building through the rear entrance uh hum.... Inside this blonde bouffant a cock-ettish bunny with cute little frock... and ripped hose, all adorable with her white powdery nose twitching and bitching about Queers, Gays and Homos... )
The crowd was ready for some entertainment and Miss Porsche Stevens Ross delivered, Garage regular Porsche took the stage and gave a stellar performance, The crowd wanted more and when CeCe stumbled up the stairs in her on point Muss Hannigan drag to give a superb performance of Annie's Little Girls, the crowd was holding their sides for the entire number. I don't think I enjoyed a local drag show so much - ever! CeCe was brilliant. "Grab your rubbers its going to be a dirty night..." and the Lady Bunny took the Garage ... (We will hopefully be sitting down with the girls of the Garage sometime soon!)

If you have ever seen the Lady Bunny perform you know the show can be coarse and outrageous. She did not fail tonight kids! The Bunny's humour is timely and impeccably executed, mixes of today's popular artists worked to her own lyrics often raunchy, rough, rude and ruckus kept the crowd laughing and in complete hysterics. The shock value was not lost on this Conservative burg's most adventurous crowd, Bunny may be Tennessee bred and a Southern belle but her humour is all Big Apple Big City and no one and nothing was off limits.
We attempted to get an interview. Though prearranged, there was not adequate space in the star's dressing room with so many A-listers crowding for her attention. And outside the door fans clamored to get a peak inside at the Bunny. The Lady Bunny ever gracious offered for a phone interview for this morning in lieu (from the loo?) of trying to speak over adoring fans. Mike Thomas arranged for us to speak with LB from the limo as she made her way to Nations in Richmond for a performance this evening (tickets still available for 10$). At 330 in the afternoon we got in touch with LB and that charming southern falsetto chirped hello as if just rising from a forest burrow only to inform us that sadly there was some problem she had no choice but to attend to and declined further discussion (isn't she cute folks? do hope it all works out for the Bunny.) We hope to see her back her in Norfolk/HR, I know everyone had an amazing time, Mike Thomas and everyone at the Garage were great hosts and put together a really enjoyable evening raising donations and awareness for TACT.
